Soil Quality Control Testing

Field and laboratory tests to assess soil, rock and water and verify suitability for construction.

Overview

We carry out soil quality-control testing in the field and laboratory to approved engineering standards, assessing the physical and mechanical properties of soil and its suitability for construction and roads, plus chemical analysis of soil, rock and water samples using advanced spectroscopy equipment.

Soil tests

  • Soil classification
  • Consistency
  • Moisture content and density
  • Collapsibility
  • Free swell and swelling pressure
  • Consolidation
  • Direct shear

Rock tests

  • Bulk density, specific gravity, absorption and porosity
  • Unconfined compression with modulus of elasticity and Poisson’s ratio
  • Indirect tensile strength (Brazilian test)
  • Point load test
  • Slake durability

Chemical analysis

  • Total dissolved salts
  • pH
  • Chlorides and sulfates
  • Magnesium and carbon dioxide
