Concrete quality is not decided at the plant alone: transport, placing and curing all affect it. For that reason pours are monitored on site with quick tests on fresh concrete.
Fresh concrete tests
- Measuring and monitoring concrete temperature.
- The Abrams cone slump test to measure workability.
- Determining the air content of the fresh sample.
- Taking cube or cylinder samples on site, storing and curing them properly, then crushing them in the laboratory to find compressive strength.
Tests on existing structures
When the quality of concrete already placed is in doubt, cores are taken and tested in compression, supported by the Schmidt hammer, ultrasonic testing and reinforcement detection. The details are on the structural evaluation page.
Mix design
We design concrete mixes to the required specifications, the Saudi code or international codes, and then follow their quality on site.
